Christián Angio (CA) track record of more than 20 years in the Agribusiness gives him the access to the different players in the value chain along Latam.
20 Years of Experience
+ 1 M agricultural Hectareas
Make operations in more of 6 countries
As COO of El Tejar´s he ran the farming operations for more than 4 Million (M) planted hectares accumulated in 10 years, reaching annual planted areas of more than 400 thousands (K) hectares in Brazil , 240 K in Uruguay, 300 K in Argentina, 40 K in Bolivia and 8 K hectares in Paraguay. Soybeans were the main crop (50% of the area) followed by corn (safra & safrinha), wheat, barley, cotton (safra & safrinha), sunflower and rapeseed.
More than 1 M agricultural hectares were analyzed for rental or purchasing process in Brazil, 740 K in Argentina, 580 K in Uruguay, 148 K in Bolivia and almost 30 K hectares in Paraguay and Colombia. These supply a huge amount of contacts and know-how of all regions.
Christian was the main responsible for purchasing over 180 K hectares from 2007 to 2010 with a total value of USD 700 M (actual prices 2x). In Brazil almost 95 K hectares were bought in Mato Grosso; were 19 fazendas in the best parts of the State (Southest and Center/North – BR 163 corridor) and for these actual prices are almost 3x from purchase. In Uruguay were almost 40 K total hectares purchased along the country (Litoral, Center and Northeast) in more than 40 farms, also having appraisal values of 2x. In Bolivia were around 30 K hectares in 8 farms with purchase multiples of 1.5x, mainly in the East Region of Santa Cruz de la Sierra. Finally in Argentina 15 K hectares were purchased in Pampa Region and Chaco, also having purchase multiples of 1.5x. All these farms have more than 70% of agricultural land and in most cases were already developed. Some of the farms were already sold at even more money than third parties valuation.
The cattle (beef) operation was not so significant in the last years of El Tejar but Christian still was the head of this Business Unit that had more than 5,000 heads in Argentina (also being an Angus Breeder) and almost 14,000 in Uruguay. In the beginnings of Christian´s career, he ran the operation of commercialization in retail and export of beef from Argentina to Chile in the 90’s.
In El Tejar he also had experience in Joint Venture with up-stream partners (seeds plant in Uruguay). Also he was involved in the analysis of planting in East Europe and deals that involved Joint-Ventures for that region.
